About Pawsitive Pathways Inc

Our Mission

is to save dogs from rural, underserved areas of Colorado where they are unable or unlikely to be adopted or are at risk of euthanasia due to space and time constraints.

After taking the dog into our PACFA certified shelter rehabilitation program they are vetted, loved, trained and socialized. We then work closely with local businesses, other shelters and rescues around the state, and our communities, both in person and through social media, to network and promote the dogs. The end goal being to give them the best opportunity to find a new home! Once their great new family is found, the dog is hand delivered to their new home.

Pawsitive Pathways is truly a unique and innovative program. We are constantly working to expand our reach and resources throughout the state to further build on our proven success of saving dogs thus far.

Some of the wonderful partner shelters, rescues, and animal control offices we've worked with in the past include: RezDawg Rescue,  La Junta Animal Shelter, Live Love Rescue, EPAWA, Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Denver Animal Shelter, Walsenburg Animal Shelter, Trinidad Animal Shelter, Lamar Animal Shelter, Coopers Companions, Baca County Animal Services, Ordway Animal Control, Foothills Animal Shelter, and more.

Here is the full process for dogs entering the program:

  • We get contacted about a dog in need whom we feel would greatly benefit from our program vs other means of adoption

  • The dog is met by our founder, CEO and lead dog trainer, Brandie to receive an initial behavior evaluation and assessment

  • They are picked up from their current living situation and travel to their new temporary home at Pawsitive Pathways with Brandie

  • Monetary sponsorship/donations are secured for the dog to ensure proper care and resources throughout their time in the program

  • They stay in the program for an average of 2-4 weeks (or as long as it takes to find them a great new home) learning: how to trust humans, how to live in a home environment, basic manners, obedience, how to socialize with other dogs, meet new people and animals, etc.

  • They receive any veterinary or medical care necessary during their stay. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered

  • All while being promoted and networked around the state to find their perfect new forever family

  • Once a new family is found, a meet and greet is scheduled, adoption paperwork is completed and then Brandie transports the dog to their new home, hand delivered!

  • The dog and their new family have lifelong support and communication from our team and we do everything we can to ensure that our adoptees never return back to a shelter environment or life on the streets
